while i was reading Dr Goldman's book i got on interlibrary loan, sam asked me what i was reading, & what the heck- it had to come up *sometime*. so i explained as simply as possible (while emphasizing that it's not something we would EVER do, i don't want to give him nightmares!) what circumcision was, and his response?

'mama, that's foolish.'

i wish it was as obvious to others (darned social conditioning!)

That is so cute! I've noticed that boys who are told what circumcision is feel that it is wrong and are glad they are whole, while those who are intact but never had it explained to them are the ones who are ashamed and want to be circ'd. That's been my experience anyway.

We've discussed it with both DD (4) and DS (2--- well he was there, there is really no "discussion" with him yet, lol) and I don't think they'll grow up thinking circ is okay!
