Just wanted to share...
My sister had her baby yesterday in a birth center. She & baby are doing great and she was so strong in her long labor. Nursing is going well now. However, the baby was really tired after being born and didn't actually latch on for several hours. The midwife came in to check on him after 9 hours (?) and he was really sleepy and would not latch for anything. She thought he needed to boost his blood sugar, and couldn't get any colostrum, so she looked up at me and said, "Would you mind giving him a few drops of your milk?" He wouldn't latch on to me, either, so I held him and dripped milk into his mouth. My sister was ecstatic that he got to have some of my milk (says he is a milk brother to DS2), and that perked him right up and he figured out how to get his own mommy's milk. It was a really special moment. I felt like making milk really was a superpower.
(Another reason to be glad I'm still nursing my 23-month-old.)
