I gave my newborn nephew some milk - Page 2

Wow I wish you were my sister. My DD had a similar slow start, but instead it took her 3 days to get the help she needed (and was in BAD shape by then). Thank you!

When I had ds2 he was 10 lbs. 12 oz. and just born super hungry! I nursed him constantly the first few days but he was not satisfied w/my colostrum and would fuss and cry. I was getting emotional and didn't know what to do so I called my sis who was still BF her 3 yr. old and she pumped a little for me.

It was only about a dropper full (that's all she could get bc she had recently nursed her son) but I gave it to him and he was so happy he slept for about 3 hrs. and when he woke up my milk was coming in.

I have always been thankful. It is really special.

They lived right next door so I begged her to let me give her daughter a week of breastmilk while she recovered. It was hard work nursing two infants but I'm so happy I did it as my SIL wound up nursing her daughter for over 2 years.
That is so awesome. I think that's beautiful. Your niece is a very lucky girl to have such a great aunt.

I start a nanny/mother's helper job next week right after she gets home from the hospital, and I would definitely help her out like that (she's having a c-section), but I don't know if she's the type that would appreciate that kind of help. It's definitely way outside of this culture's comfort zone.

That's awesome!

My sister and I have nursed each others' babies a few times. It's been such a bonding experience for all of us.

hooray for all you generous mamas out there. I know I'd do the same for any babe that needed the help, but it's wonderful to hear of others feeling the same way. You MDC gals are the *best*!:

My 31 week preemie had a milk mama. My dear friend whose son died (also preemie) and she had a freezer full of milk. My milk was VERY delayed coming in and she brought four days of milk up for my daughter which they tube fed her until mine took over. I was sooooo grateful to have that option and even better that it was preemie milk. I hope my friend felt good about helping my baby even though she had lost hers.
