we have an appt this morning --- Is it ok for my DC to get the chickenpox vaccine if I'm pregnant? (1st trimester...but I've been vaccinated)
thanks in advance!

Doc will likely tell you it's OK but be aware that it's a live virus vaccine that can shed in your DC's stool.

If you need a quick answer, then that answer, IMO, should always be "no." Take the time to get the slow answer, for yourself, first.

Yes, it CAN shed. I don't know if there have been any studies on the shedding.

Here is some great information on the chicken pox vaccine:

Chickenpox vaccination can and does result in shingles outbreaks. And if anyone in the world has shingles they can infect another person with chickenpox. The shingles–chickenpox–shingles cycle guarantees that we will have to vaccinate everyone against chickenpox forever and ever or chickenpox will return. That sums up the benefits of the chickenpox vaccine and leaves us wondering, what unforeseen consequences might Zostavax (the shingles vaccine) have hidden under its belt?
Also note that the CP vaccine was created on aborted fetal cell line, if that is an issue for you.
