First of all, there was no proof they found a terrible virus. They just said they did. What's even more interesting is that this "virus" started on a military installation just like the Spanish Flu did. Fort Riley was ground zero for the Spanish Flu and interestingly enough thousands died after a massive vaccination program. The returning soldiers from Europe were thought to be typhoid threats.
It is fascinating to me that we have at least two instances where a mysterious illness originates on a military base, a few soldiers get really sick or die, a massive vaccination program is put in place and then thousands of people become ill or die, yet no one thinks to see if the toxins and diseases injected into people have anything to do with it. It was only a few years ago that anthrax was going to get us all, and it turns out that too was developed on a military base.
I've mentioned this before, but scientists and doctors love to mention Occam's razor when trying to figure out what happened unless what happened possibly involves what they have done, then we get all kinds of new strange diseases with interesting names.
