What is shedding?

Does this refer to vaxed children who have the disease and are asymptomatic and therefore can pass it on?

I believe it refers to vaxed children who were vaxed with a live virus so they can "shed" that virus putting others (particularly immune compromised people) at risk of catching the VPD in question.

but I'd like to hear a more official definition too.
