these articles on MSNBC...I'd like to know your thoughts. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26291109/

We are a non-vaxing family and I did not appreciate the slant that we don't vaccinate solely based on the fact that vaccines cause autism. Like we don't put more thought into it then that. There are other things in the articles that bug me but I can't articulate well about why(ie. herd immunity and outbreaks).

I am also so sick of the notion that because I wasn't alive in 1940 I can't possibly know how bad these things were.

Uh, yeah, if it totally happened before, like, 1980, then, ya know, I don't, like care. /valleygirl

I don't have the emotional energy to read another 'Bad Mommy' article at the moment, but yea autism is not really high on our list of reasons we don't vax. I don't think I even read about the connection until a few years after my son was born. OTOH, my husband was vaccine-damaged from DPT as a child and spent his first four years of life in and out of the hospital with convulsions and symptoms that "mysteriously" resembled whooping cough. :

Herd immunity is logically absurd.

ugh, I couldn't agree more. I'm sick of that too. I think its so sad that people think that we made a decision like this so non chalantly. As if we were watching Larry King one night, and Jenny Mccarthy was on and all the sudden we say "If Jenny says it, then it must be true!" I can't tell you how many times people have brought up Jenny Mccarthy to me when I'm talking about not vaccinating (my pediatrician for one). I am so insulted everytime, that people would think that I have based such an important parenting decision on what a celebrity said! Everyone loves to call non-vaxers/delayed and selective vaxers "Ignorant, misguided" and "uneducated." However, when I talk with"provaxers" about my findings, most have not even read the vaccine inserts or the schedule!

"If Jenny says it, then it must be true!"

Right. Well, ya know I birthed my son at home 8 1/2 years ago because Ricki is so cool and I wanted to be just like her. Oh, wait... her movie was only released last year. Guess I'll have to come up with another excuse.

Seriously though, I have only heard Jenny speak for about five minutes and only stumbled upon her site last night. However, I am really considering buying this... http://www.generationrescue.org/lets...anda-Black.jpg
