Peanut Shell wrap & fitness walking

Does anyone use a Peanut Shell while walking longer distances or while fitness walking? I would also be pushing a stroller. It would also be nice to have this combo when I'm meeting family and friends downtown (1 1/2 mi away) for a morning at the local coffee house and some shopping. None of these places are double jogging stroller friendly. Of course, thats not what jogging strollers are for.

The reason I ask is the Peanut is the only sling that our local baby boutique carries. The discount stores around here only have carriers like the Snugli and Bjorns and slings for small babies. And it may be a while before we make the 1 1/2 hour drive to the next largest city which has a BRU and several other baby stores. I'm also leary about ordering something like this online. Want to try it in person first. Kind of like test driving a stroller. I have a Snugli and its good only for occasional use, IMHO. There's no way I would like wearing DD for this long in a Snugli.

I'd recommend a two-shoulder carrier over a one-shoulder carrier like the Peanut Shell (or any ring sling or pouch). With a two-shoulder carrier, either with front or back carries you'll have both hands free to push the stroller, and it's just much easier to walk with baby centered on your body.

The vast majority of online retailers have decent return policies (read them first) -- IMO your best bet is to do your research here and somewhere like www.thebabywearer.com and order your top pick from somewhere that will take it back if it doesn't work out. There aren't that many brick and mortar stores yet that have the selection of carriers to try on unless you're in a pretty large urban area.

Thanks Quirky. I was planning on spending some time on thebabywearer.com before making a purchase. Discovered the site yesterday. I'm getting a really late start on baby wearing. Was going to w/DS and then got sucked into babywise and learned that it was "bad". Now I'm in BW rehab. Right now I'll stick w/my Snugli b/c its all I have and its better than nothing. And, sometimes, DD just wants to sit and play and be put down. Oddly enough I think DS, who is 2, might actually like to be worn. He's always wanting me to carry him around. He's lightweight, 28 lbs or so, so its definitely doable.
