INTENSE downward pressure?

Anyone know what this might be?

Mon-Tuesday I was having contractions consistently for 24 hours and Tuesday morning they got to the 5-1-1+intense point. At the hospital though, they eventually petered out (see the "How are the overdue momma's doing thread" for more details). Every since then, I haven't had a single contraction.

What I have had is this incredible pressure. It comes and goes, but when it comes it stays for a good hour or so and just feels like I have a bowling ball pushing down super hard and heavy. Almost like I could fall over if I don't concentrate.

I read that its possibly the baby engaging and pressing against my cervix, but I don't know.....anyone have any ideas?

Yeah I had that at 29 weeks when my DD dropped and engaged. It sounds like the same thing.

Going to the hospital and having true labor stop is quite possible BTW. White coat syndrome. Your cervical sphincter will close up just like any other sphincter would if you were tense at all, even subliminally. Just like some ppl cant poop in a public restroom or pee in front of ppl!

I have been having a similar situation. Last week I had contractions for over 8 hours that just stopped. At least every few days I experience downward pressure for over and hour. I get on my hands and knees for comfort and to really allow the head to do its work. I envision the head allowing me to eface when I feel the pressure.
