age and frequency you use your carrier?

I have a beco butterfly carrier (omg can I just say I LOVE this thing. Finally got it right on the 10th baby carrier (no lie, I guess 10th time is a charm!)

Well, I use it for my 7 month old. But today I put my 3 1/2 year old in it - trying to work on rebuilding a connection with him as he is in school now (special needs) and I am considering her behavioral issues may be in part due to our connection not being as strong as it once was.

anyway, all that aside, I am just curious how often you use your baby carrier and for what age. My youngest is asleep in mine right now.. I'm re embracing having one of these things to use OTHER then going out of the house. I forgot how wonderful they can be to use at home!

I wish my 2.5 year old wanted to be worn more. I really enjoy those moments when we are snuggled together - even if he is pulling my hair and hitting me with his truck. He actually screams and runs the other way for any carrier but a pouch. The pouch is my go-to carrier for running into busy places like the post office, etc. where I am only going to be a few minutes.

I found that our BW days tapered off around 11 months - right around the time he learned to crawl. I still wore him quite often until he was about 15 months, and then he wanted almost nothing to do with being worn anymore.

I can't wait for this NB to be here - 3 more months. 3 more months. 3 more months....

We wore him a lot from about 7 months (when I first discovered babywearing) to about a year. We still wear him at times, but a lot of the time he prefers to ride in the stroller or walk next to us. I think now he feels too confined in a carrier, though there are times he won't mind being in one (mainly when he is tired, I think).

Nearly 3 yr. old DD and 9 month old DD - both several times per week.

Not as much as I'd like to or hoped I would. She started crawling two weeks ago at 6 months, and really likes to be on the ground moving around now. I wear her whenever shopping, walking, visiting friends/family, etc. -- out and about. Around the house, not quite as much. If I'm busy doing things and is feeling like she needs me, I'll put her in a hip carrier. She doesn't much like being on my back, and she love to grab at things when I wear her out front, so that limits what I can do (no folding clothes, cooking food.) Sometimes, I can tell she needs a nap but isn't quite ready to go down, so I slip her in the carrier and wear her until she's drowsy. It's a nice, cuddly way to get her nap-ready.

My dd is 17 months. I wear her in my ergo almost everyday to tidy up the apartment maybe for 30-60 mins. I wear her in my wrap (and sometimes my ergo) a couple of times a week for getting her to sleep at night/going for walks/snuggles.

it's been a little different with each child. DD1 i wore pretty much every day, usually multiple times a day, until she was about 2. and at that point it was more because of me being hugely pregnant in the hot summer than her independence that limited our babywearing. after DS was born (she was 26 months) it was a great way for us to reconnect - usually when DH was home to hold the baby, DD1 would get on my back while i cooked dinner. or if DS was taking a nap, i'd put her in the ring sling and we'd dance or something. it really helped the transition with the new baby. but up until i was very largely pg with #3 she would still occasionally be worn (mostly by DH) when we went hiking in the woods and she would get tired. she started having to walk the whole way when i could no longer manage to wear DS while hiking about midway through that pregnancy.

DS wanted to be down more than his sister because of his sister - he wanted to follow her and play with her. but he napped on me pretty much every day until he was about 18 months old. that was when it really started to taper off - he liked to walk and run with his sis, and he was *heavy* (28 pounds at a year, 32 pounds at 2) so i was fine with his independence but again, still wore him for hiking, and DH still does when he gets tired.

DD2 is still a baby, just 8 months, and while she loooves to crawl around after he big sis and bro (she crawled almost 2 months earlier than the other two - she was motivated!) she still loves to be worn, and most meals are prepared with her on my back and she usually naps there as well. i'm curious to see how much she will want to be worn once she learns to walk. though i'm sure if nothing else DH will be wearing her on hikes until she's at least 4 - we have a hilly property and we like to hike, and until that age it's just impossible for LO's to keep up for very long.

I use my wrap for my 3 month old a good part of every day. It is one of he only ways he will nap. He's sleeping in it right now.

My daughter lived in the sling the first few months of her life then we moved on to the Ergo at about 5 months. At about 6 months she started sitting and scooting and liked being on the floor more. She also started letting me put her down for naps so she was in the carrier less and less but still daily. By 14 months when she started walking, her love affair with the Ergo came to an end. She only wanted to be in it when we were out and she was too tired to walk anymore. I also put her in it when it was impractical/dangerous for her to walk like when were in NYC. By the time she was two we weren't using it at all. I just carried her if she got tired.

i use the ergo for my 7 month old for at least one nap a day, anytime we go out of the house (probably 2/3 hours), & generally for about 60 mins within the house while i get housework done. since she got more mobile she has got more frustrated with long periods in the ergo - she wants to be down after about 3 hours of being worn, so i have to fit that in if we are out & about.

dp uses a frame backpack for about 2 hrs a day with her at weekends when he takes her out, but then she has to be transferred into the ergo for napping.

I use wraps and have a 21mo DD. I wore her very frequently before I started having bad sciatic nerve pain with this pregnancy. I would say that she asks to be carried at least five times a week and it's usually when she's getting tired in the evening. I can't wait to start wearing her again.

Baby is 2.5 months and is worn every day for several hours (pretty much the whole time I'm awake, aside from me occasionally setting him on the bed while he's napping, but not even every nap or every day). On the rare occasions he's not in a carrier, he's in my lap or arms (right now he's napping in my lap). I pretty much have done that with all my babies; they're on me in one form or another pretty much the whole time I'm awake (and then sleeping right up against me at night). That will gradually decrease, but my second baby was very cuddly and wanted to be worn/held a lot until around age 2.

DS is 7.5 months and I wear him every single day, and I have done so since he was about a week old. He is un a carrier for, on average, 3-4 hours a day, between running errands, napping sometimes, while I`m doing housework etc.

Thanks to cold winters that include snow and -20C daytime highs, I am thankful that I have become a very proficient BWer over the years.

With DS1, I wore him in a framed backpack carrier until he was 2.5 yrs old.
With DD, I still wear her TOGETHER with DS2 when the weather is biting cold and our trips are longer than 15 minutes by a 2.5 yr old's standards
DD will ask to be worn for comfort and security when entering a strange and new situation (New Year party with my extended family, whom she sees twice a year)
DS2 has been worn almost exclusively on my back since the age of 3 weeks, and will probably wear him into next winter and spring before things taper off naturally.

I am a mad wrapper! When DD was a newborn I must have wrapped her for my full 16 hour waking day! She is now 16 mo and when were at home all day we wrap for about 5 or 6 hours, if we go out she is usually wrapped the whole time. On days that I go to school she is wrapped for the hour commute each way and an additonal couple of hours at home. I am in love with my Storch and could never put it down! LOL Does anyone (other than my roomates) think I wrap too much?

I love podaegis. I luuuurve them. I have two narrow and one wide. I just have one twosie now and I use it about once a month when she needs to be up. I also used it when babysitting my sister's son, who is seven months. We used the po all the time (daily, several times) when she was little but she just gets her contact in other ways now and, in her words, "I wanna do it mysewf, pwease!"
