Quick Help: machine locking up solid!

I have a new (2-3 month old) Singer Simple 3116.

There is nothing simple about this &*#)@ machine. I'm losing my flippin' mind over here.

I just spent an hour and a half trying to sew. The thread jams from underneath. It will sew 2 stitches and then lock up SOLID. When I go to cut the thread there are eighty bajillion little threads sticking up from the bottom. It's a mess.

I've taken everything out. Cleaned and lubed the machine. I've adjusted the tension every which way.

I don't know what to do but I do know that I'm going insane.

Help? I have a birthday party Saturday and I need to make the birthday girl's gift!

I have a few ideas...First maybe your bobin is not in correctly and second make sure that you always finish with your needle up as high as it can go buy turning the knob that moves the needle towards you. I hope that helps.

Thanks for the suggestion, but neither of those is the problem.

1. I re-wound and re-inserted the bobbin more than once. It was in right for sure!
2. I couldn't sew more than 2 stitches before the machine locked up solid.

I went to a local dealer and got a used babylock for $89 :
