HELP ME GET THIS JOB!!! What do I ask for?

I have an interview for an online editing job. It is right up my ally and the thing will be decided by the weekend. It involves seeking current events on the topic and writing up a small blub with links to the online stories. Six days a week. I have written articles and been paid before, but never something ongoing like this. What do I ask for in compensation? Is there a going rate or norm??? Help fast, they may be calling tomorrow (friday) morning!!!

Think wheather you want to be paid a flat rate, per word, or hourly.

All I can think of is hourly, which would be $25-30/h. You could ask them how this would translate into the task required. It looks like they might want to pay you per piece.

You say "editing", but what you actually describe seems "writing". So which one?

I'd be honest with them. Tell them you normally charge $25-30 /h (or whatever you charge) and that you are not sure how this translates into this kind of work. They will let you know, and then you can see if what they offer seems fair.

how did it go?

Google the Editorial Freelance Association for a list of current rates for various editing tasks (in the Northeast US, at any rate). Although what you describe isn't editing so much as writing.
