calling all birth bead swap mamas

Candice still needs our collective energy. Please wear your beads today - and maybe we can encourage Logan to make an appearance sooner rather than later.

*and, is anyone else interested in knowing how our beads were used during our births? they were important to us. I made necklaces for myself and each of my daughters. I wore mine often during the last weeks, and i haven't taken it off since Zoe was born. When they prepped me for surgery, I gave my beads to my mother to wear, My daughters each had theirs. My mom was with me in recovery, my DH was with Zoe - she gave me the beads back sometime in the first couple hours, and Zoe often holds them when curled up in my arms or nursing. She's holding them now. One of my hearts (I bought extras) got chipped a couple weeks ago, which made me sad at the time (because of the way I made my necklace, knotted between each bead, I can't replace it). But DD1 said yesterday that she thinks it is special to remind me of 'being' pregnant now. She is so intuitive for being 9 - she knows that we lost something very important.

brrrrrrr, it's a cold day in Houston!

Thanks for posting this Janice, I haven't been keeping up on the other thread so didn't know about Candice.
I'm wearing my beads right now and sending ELV's to her :

I actually didn't wear mine during labor, by the time I was convinced that I was really in labor it all happened so fast that I didn't even think of them!
They are, however, a beautiful reminder of my pregnancy and all the ladies here; I'm so glad we did this

I wore mine in early labor, but took them off to take a nap (worst nap ever). Then I forgot to put them back on and forgot to bring them to the hospital with me. Maybe that's why I was in labor for 36 hours.

a coincidence?

My daughter made me a necklace when we first told her we were expecting a baby. It lasted until 7 mos - when I started having contractions/premature labor problems. My autistic daughter found it and it was broken. (I kept it hidden in a drawer so it wouldn't get broken. DD1 wanted me to wear it when I went into labor so I would think of that instead of the pain - bot bad for a then 6 yr old!)

It never got fixed. That's when DD1 decided she really wanted to be there for the birth of her brother.(which she missed, but she was there to help me with my labor pains! ). We had been discussing everything that happens to baby & mama, developmentally etc (home-school science and a baby brother, hahaha!) and then told her after she learned everything about it she could decide.

Now that I look back, maybe it was a sign that things were going to get tougher?

I thought I'd post this since I thought it was neat that my daughter made me a bead necklace for my birth experience and we weren't even part of this group yet. I'm not sure how you all made your necklaces, etc. Candice, since I can't wear my beads - lots of elv's to you anyway!

I made my beads into a necklace. A few weeks before the birth I went back to the bead store down my street and bought more to make it....w/help from the store owner. It was quite a nice time too

I wore mine the last weeks of pregnancy. Altho I do admit that I took it off a few days before the birth b/c they were so full of labor vibes that I had too! I needed babe to stay put all of a sudden. But once labor began I put it on and on it stayed. I have picks of it on while in the birth pool I really loved the necklace and could feel the positive energy flowing through it. It is very special to me and means so much! I'm so glad I participated in it and so happy to have it as a memory of my pregnancy and birth.

It lives on my dresser on a green dyed silk scarf given to me by an mdc mama friend....with 2 pinecone "xmas" trees my boys made in preschool a few years ago and in the middle of it a yummy smelling soy candle that I had during my birth. I love seeing it there...it looks so peaceful.

I noticed that earlier, but didn't want to "say" anything in case I jinxed her!
