My "subtle" strategy with links

Thread Starter
A lot of people want "unbiased" circumcision links to send to people who have never thought about circumcision and have mainstream views of the "normalcy" of routine infant circumcision. I think that is almost impossible. If I were sending links to someone I would not send them pages from any clearly anticircumcision website. In many cases they will not be taken seriously simply because of the web adress. And I also would not send them links from Mothering magazine. I know many people who think Mothering is "out there" and not to be trusted.

I have started to collect links that are not associated with anticircumcision sites that I think will be helpful. Some are still clearly biased, some are more subtly (sort of subversively) anticircumcision and some make me a little uncomfortable because they may contain a little misinformation.
I think it is helpful to provide this variety of perspectives. I know I am definitely not neutral on this subject but I like to "trick" people into thinking I am more open to circumcision than I truly am. When I was more overt about my opposition to the practice, I have had people roll their eyes, immediately shut down and stop listening. I understand their viewpoint because I personally am skeptical of radical points of view (and face it in American culture, we have a radical point of view). If I pretend I am less passionate than I am, I find people listen to me more.

Once they start coming around, then I present the more "hardcore" stuff.

Here they are:

(I know these links could go in the web resources sticky but I felt like I wanted to separate them because in some ways they are of a different character than many of the links in that thread.)

Your not really tricking them by approaching them this way. You may have stronger opinions then your presenting, but you still providing the same basic information, just in a way where they feel more comfortable accepting and looking at this new information.

Who is going to bother accepting new information from someone when its seems like the messenger is going label you an idiot for not.

Thanks for these links - I've bookmarked them to look them over. I think this will help to *slowly* bring my DH around.
