Questions about relgious exemptions

It seems in Tennessee the small town er doctors dont care WHAT kind of exemption you have, they are going to pressure/threaten/do whatever they have to to force a vaccine on your child if they think they need it...

I understand where they're coming from... I guess. I'm sure the doc we saw today was sincerely convinced that my child was going to get tetanus and die if i didnt give him the shot....

But how much can they really question you about your exemption? I was under the impression that they really couldnt ask any questions as it would be considered harrassment or some sort of prejudice?

I was just thinking (and a bad example i know to put here, but used only as an example... JFTR!!!!) If i were jewish and said I wanted my child circumsized for religous reasons and the doctor gave me a hard time about it, that really would be some sort of religious discrimination right?

or can they interrogate you about your religion and why you believe that you shouldnt vaccinate?

I kind of just kept my mouth shut today as i didnt want to tick them off thinking they were already calling cps on me for not giving my babies shots.... but next time I'd love to be able to tell them that by questioning my religious beliefs they are "xyz"

I just dont really know my stuff anymore... we've had pretty smooth sailing when its come to non vax in tennessee... i guess thats what we get for moving out of the city!

They can ask or interrogate or anything else they want...you need to not engage them!

Just memorize and repeat:

"it is against my sincerely held religious beliefs. My religion is not up for discussion:

If pressed, repeat once more followed by the statement "the reason we are here is......"

Refuse to comment on any further discussion.

BTW - You do not need any sort of exemption until school. You do not need one for your doctor...it is your right as the child's parent to make medical decisions for your child. Period.End.Of.Story!

I'm in Chattanooga, and while there is no shortage of non-vaxers here, I still get a hard time about it too, from everyone BUT the kids' pediatrician. It's very strange.

If it happens again, ask for the patient advocate, or the administrator of the hospital. And let them know that your next call will be to the ACLU if the harrassment doesn't stop. I've gotten good results with that one.

Not only because they think the child 'needs' the vaccine BUT because they are protecting themselves. They are bound by pharma guild lines and have to practice 'defensive medicine' or they can become liable.

I doubt that. I bet he has NEVER seen a child die of tetanus unless he worked in Africa.

Until you say: "I have said NO. And any further discussion will be considered harassment."

No. Not if it is against HIS religion. You could however get a Jewish doc to do it.

There is no law that says you must vaccinate your child. If anyone calls cps, just don't ever let them into the house. Don't be a volunteer against yourself.

It doesn't matter, since you "WILLINGLY" waived ALL YOUR RIGHTS, talked with them, and let them in your house. You VOLUNTEERED!

If you stand up for yourself you'll see them back down.
