Ethical Dilemma

The house next door
Broken and Battered
Retreated by one who

"fought the Law,
and the Law Won"

vast amounts of knowledge
Rooms full of books
Can't get my mind off of them

Should they be rescued
like dogs of Stray
or should the be left to rot
like corpses in the Grave

This poem is meant to help me figure out what to do... any suggestions?

Any way you can get ahold of the person and ask if you can have the books?

No I can not find the person, because He is in Prison (He was renting the house), and I can not locate the owner of the house either.

I think what happens is if the house goes into foreclosure because he is not there to make payments, then all the books and all his stuff will probably be put into storage somewhere and the house will be sold. Unless he has family somewhere willing to handle all this. Maybe you could keep an eye out and if some of his family comes by, offer to buy the lot of books. But you can't just take the books. Although I would be tempted, too.

Oops I just saw that you said he was renting. In that case, the landlord will probably be by eventually. I think the landlord has to reclaim the property either by going through an eviction process or wait awhile and claim abandonment of the property. Either way, he has to put the guy's property in storage. If anything goes missing, the guy who is prison can sue the landlord.

You could probably figure out which prison he went to, and send him a letter...

But what I'm really wondering is what kind of bookworm managed to land himself in prison.

My husband is a prison librarian - there are a fair number of bookworms... You are not safe!! Ok - you are pretty safe if you don't burn stuff down, steal, sell drugs, murder, or participate in other unsavory activities...
