Mai Tai for the Fluffier Mama?

Thread Starter
Does anyone have a recommendation for a mai tai style carrier for the umm...err....fluffy type mama? I'm plus size, so I need the straps longer than normal. I have two wraps now, but wraps just aren't working for me and they drive me nuts. From looking at the Mai Tai I think that would be awesome for my wiggler...since it has a 'seat' for her and looks simpler to wear.

Thoughts? Links? Product recommends? Tips?

I'm all ears...

Most MTs are available with longer straps, specifically babyhawk and Kozy, two very popular brands.

You could also find a custom one if you like, there are so many options it can get a little overwhelming. I loved my Babyhawk, it seemed more supportive *to me* than the Kozy, but I hear the opposite from so many other people. Just choose one that you like to try. Also if you go to http://www.thebabywearer.net there are lots of people selling carriers used at reduced prices.

HTH!

Yep, you can order a BH or Kozy with XL straps. Check out www.thebabywearer.com if you want to save money and get a used one. They are just as good!

I am on the fluffy side and love my Babyhawk w/ extra long straps.

I would suggest a Kozy with XL straps. i find a Kozy much more supportive with older/heavier babies and toddlers (and i have a babyhawk too, just for reference, which i like very much. but i prefer the Kozy all-around).

MT's with XL straps are sometimes harder to find on FSOT over at TBW. but you can post an ISO. but if you're picky about fabric you might be better off buying one new so you get one you really like.

Ditto about the extra long straps. I'm a "regular" 14, but still need XL straps to do a good back carry.
