Should I be worried?

Thread Starter
My DD is almost 8 weeks old. Starting next week, I'll be taking care of two other babies each six hours a week (not at the same time). One baby is about 7 months and the other is about 4 months. I don't know the vax status of either of the babies.

I'm not planning to vax my DD - should I be concerned about shedding if either of the other babies get vaxed? My DD is breastfed, so I know that offers some protection.

Should I ask the mothers when their babies will be getting vaxed? Should I ask them not to bring their babies that week, or should I make sure my DD stays in a different room or something? Or, am I overthinking this and it's not a risk for my DD?

TIA!

Here is a good article about vaccines that shed.

The ones I know off hand are the MMR, given at 12 months, and Rota virus but I don't know when it is given. The rest don't shed as far as I know.

If I were in your situation I would worry about something in addition - shaken baby syndrome. Please inform yourself about it. There are innocent people in jail over that issue.

I wouldn't worry too much about the shedding. The one of the most concern would be the rota vaccine, but good hygiene will go a long way. Make sure you wash your hands well after every diaper change!
