Did You Predict Your Birthing Time?

Thread Starter
I've been feeling a really strong inclination that my baby may come earlier than later. It makes completely no sense as she's my first and babies have been late to close family members. It's not really wishful thinking either. I feel really good right now (better than I did the entire pregnancy) and have so much I want to do before she's born so I sort of hope she comes a little later. Still...it's sort of an intuition feeling—like when I strongly felt I was having a daughter (confirmed to be true at our Level II).

Has this happened to you? Was your intuition on the money or did it throw you for a loop?

Yes and know.
The day my daughter was born I told the midwives my daughter would be here by 6:30 that evening and they were convinced it could be another week. Even when tehy came that day they thought she'd be born more like 9:00pm. She was born at 6:40pm.

With my son though I was all set that he'd be a week late (mostly because he was my first baby and everybody said first babies are late). It totally took me by surprise that he was 1 week early.

Yes. I just saw dates in my head, which later proved to be prophetic.

I had a feeling I'd go around 38 weeks or so.
Moronic of me!
DS arrived at 41W 4D - and I had my membranes stripped to move it along! (Although the MW said I was at 3cm & a "perfect cervix" so he probably would have come that night anyway without the stripping.

dh guessed the date, I gussed it would be before 37 and I guessed 4 hours it was 1 hr 20mins (not too good of a guess)

'felt' the whole pregnancy that dd would come early. . . . 41weeks3d

but my intuition was right about most everything else!

I felt that I would go early with my second. Well, I did...about 15 minutes shy of the due date. Whenever I visualized the birth, it happened at night. I gave birth at 11:43 p.m.

First: right about sex, within 2 days of birth day, within about an hour of birth time.

Second: right about sex, thought she'd be "late" and she was (41 weeks) but only 1 hour before going into labour, I told the doctor that for the way I felt, it could be weeks away! Thought she would be a night baby, but prior to midnight. This was correct.

Third: waffled on sex, really couldn't figure it out. Thought he'd be "late", but not be as much as was (41 weeks 4 days). Thought he'd be night, after midnight. Nope! Middle of the afternoon.

Twins: Not so much a prediction as a mantra/goal during the pregnancy. babies were born less than two days shy of my goal. They were born at 39 weeks, 4 days. (But the reason my goal wasn't later in that pregnancy was that my birth support person was leaving for an international vacation on my due date). I was right about the time: night, after midnight.

I was wrong about when they were both born. I was sure they were both going to be born before my due date but they were both between 41-42 weeks.

My intuition was right about the sex both times though.

With this one I'm sure the baby will born between 41-42 weeks (I'm thinking 11 days past edd) and I've been having strong boy vibes all along. We'll see if I'm right this time.

I was pretty sure DD would come on her due date. I went into labor that day and she was born the next.
Nope. I thought I was going late with DD1, she was born at 38 weeks. I thought I was going early with DD2, she wasn't late, but later then DD1 was!

With my first, I measured ahead 2 weeks the whole time and just felt like he was big. I kept thinking he'd come early and he did - 13 days early. With my second, she felt smaller and I just felt she wouldn't be as early, but I thought she'd still be early. I guessed she'd come a week early - she came 8 days early. So I was pretty close on both!

I was POSITIVE that my 2nd was coming 2 weeks late. So positive that I had NOTHING packed and hadn't had my birth plan printed or anything by the time I went into labor a few days before my due date. So much for my intuition!

I was so convinced that my first was going to arrive on 28th May that I pretty much announced it to the world. As my due date was 14th June most people laughed this off, particularly as this was a month or more earlier, so it was not as if there were signs. What happened was that my water broke on the 26th, we waited a bit, but there were some concerns about baby and we decided to induce starting on the morning of the 28th. Even at 10pm it didn't look like we'd have a baby on 28th as I was 5cm dilated, but he arrived at 10.16pm!

I didn't really have any kind of feeling at all with my 2nd, also due June 14th, other than that it would be a shared birthday with someone close to us, but that still gave us plenty of choices, she did indeed share a birthday with the child of a dear friend who had been pregnant at the same time the previous time.

I'm due on June 14th again (freaky!) and as yet I have no feelings at all, but there is still plenty of time!

At my first prenatal appt they set my due date at 11.2.07. Something inside me said, nah, gonna be earlier than that. Most of the women in my family give birth "early". About my fifth month the date 10.17 came into my head. I tried to be non-attached to it, but it was a pretty persistent thought.
I started losing my mucus plug on 10.17, my water broke on the morning of 10.19 and he was born on 10.20

I would trust your instincts, babies aren't in there looking a calendar for when they "should" arrive

I had no strong feeling on when the baby would arrive or what sex it would be. I mentally prepared to go late, since it was my first and I wanted to avoid the stress of worrying about being "overdue." So then a little girl arrived at 38 weeks exactly! Go figure...
I've been completely wrong both times. I thought my first baby would come around the average, after or around 41 weeks. She came at 38 wks, 2 days. Then I thought I would go early with #2, in part due to TONS of prodromal/prelabor that went on for weeks and weeks. #2 came on my due date. I never would have guessed that.

So no, I have had zero success in anticipating when my babies will be born!

Sort of, with ds...even though i had gone to 42 weeks with dd, and i was "due" jan 3rd with ds, and to others, I kept saying "midjanuary", i sort of felt like he would be a dec baby..and he was! born at 39 weeks on the nose.

I had my membranes stripped on a Tuesday and I knew pretty soon after that that I would have the baby over the weekend. He came on Friday at 6:18, I begged my sister not to leave town but my Mom had everyone convinced that the baby would not come until the due date. She missed it

i thought ds would come early. i had everything ready....

he came at 41w 2d

i was right however on sex, his weight, and duration of labor though.
