turbotax - which one?

does the deluxe version have enough options to handle a small business or sole proprietor? i just hate pluncking down almost $100 for the home & business when i feel like i use so little for the business part.

If you have self employment income, you need the small business software. It was painful to pay that much (was 109 for federal and state filing) but I used it last year and this year and could not have done my taxes right, myself, without it. There's a lot of extra forms that need filing besides the standard 1040.

turbo tax won't let you file self-employment income on the free form. you'll need the biz one. yeah, it hurts, but you can't get around it legally.

This recently changed- I've had schedule C self-employment income and owed self-employment tax since 02 and filed with the midlevel turbotax.
This year I did get home and busnienss but I am certain this is my first year with this version.
