My midwife's student listened for the heart and thinks she had it for a few seconds but nothing conclusive. Actually, they listened to see if they could pin down my dates a bit more... if they found the heartbeat they'd lean towards my being further along, if no heartbeat then they'd go with the date that put me a bit earlier in the pregnancy.
I'm another "all about the junk food" during the first trimester.
I rarely eat junk food, and normally don't like the taste/sensation but somehow during the 1st trimester it's the only stuff that smells good/tastes good/stays down with any reliability. Actually, my dream dinner in the 1st trimester is a good chinese buffet since I know there will be at least 1-2 things I can eat! (since I know the china buffet phenomenon can be regional... around here we have lots of "all you can eat, 300+ different items!" buffets that feature predominantly chinese and japanese foods. Though they get the "300+" dishes by adding things like pizza, french fries, ice cream, etc. They're a big hit with the college crowds since for 8 dollars you can eat till you squeek.)
My theory about junk food as "edible" is that these foods are
highly processed and artificially flavored. They are very very consistant. The first bite tastes like the last bite. Your body knows exactly what it will taste like/smell like/the texture. One mcDs burger is more or less identical to another, there is no surprise in terms of eating it or digesting it. And they are relatively "inoffensive" (I'm not talking in terms of health or ethics here
) in that they are usually small portions, easy to chew/swallow, and so forth.
And that's how I justify it.
Give me another week or two and I'll be back to the real food though. Mmmmm. Yummy!
