so DP and I have been having conversations about vax and we are very curious about some stuff that I bet I can get answered here (always that way - VERY knowledgeable women around this here vax forum I tell ya!
)
He's an Irish immigrant, ex wife is American (and works as an RN). He moved to the states when they got pg with first child. They divorced while pg with second child. He has never liked the American ways of vax, circ, etc. but had no clue about laws - assumed they really were laws. (Hey, how many of us did until it came up in our lives, right?)
So when I told him my kids were not the how and why of vax exemption biz in our state, (PA) he was dumbfounded. So he said tonight that he wants to write a letter to have on file that says he is opposed.
I told him it is probably a waste of time. He pointed out that that was all I did. I had to point out (again) that my exH and I were on the same page, so there was no argument.
He seemed to think that just filing a letter with the school, ped and ex would suffice. Everyone would be informed and they would all have to comply. (I do love him for his idealism! He is incredibly optimistic at times!
)
His ex is extremely combative and is all for vax (she IS an RN, so I would have been shocked if it was otherwise). I told him that "legal custody" is a construct that only exists if you dispute it and win out. As with any aspect of law, rights are only guesses and dispute is essential - everything has to be fleshed out within the court system.
I suspect exW will just walk over it and ignore his opposition so he would have to fight it, an expense neither of us wants him to have.
Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of this? Is there any hope of the kids not getting anymore vax?
Thanks mamas!
