What do you do with books you don't want anymore? - Page 2

I donate them to the library however if you have rare books then put them on ebay

I also donate. Or freecycle.

We usually sell them to Half Price Books. Of course, it always takes a half hour or so for them to finish going through them and tell us how much they're worth. By that time, we've already found more books we want. We usually just end up handing the money right back to them.

I've sold some books on ebay before - specifically my homesteading book collection. I made back much more money than I spent on them to begin with, but listing each one and sending them out was a hassle.

Oh, and I've sold books on half.com before, too. Still a hassle. I think I just hate having to ship things.

If there's a book I seriously don't want in my house anymore, I'll donate it. Because that's so rare and I figure no one else will want it, either.

But I might start trading in at the used book store... but probably just donating.

I donate them and some that I really like I keep for when my children have children

I've sold popular ones at my local bookstore and donated to a senior center and domestic violence shelter.

It's very, very, very rare that I don't want to keep a book. I usually read books over and over. When it does happen, I usually trade on paperbackswap.com. I feel it's the best way to get something equal...if I sell it for like 2, 3 bucks I can't really go out and buy a new book for that, y'know?

My family gives them to our local friends of the library bookstore (my mom volunteers at one). There is also a drop-bin for Books for charity down the street from my house. If I were more motivated, I'd consider selling on amazon. I typically will do that with DVDs that I don't want to keep.
