Happy Imbolc

What a great thread! I remember lurking last year. How I can be so shy on the internet is beyond me.

Made some soup Also planning a frittata and some custard. Yes both Going to pick up DD and come home to light the candles. I think we might be able to take a nature walk between rain showers.

Last week we had some unusually sunny weather and now some of the trees are blossoming, so I'm feeling the beginnings of the winter's end today.

LOL last week it was less than 10 degrees each day. This week is hitting mid-20's to low 30's and it snowed about 3" today! This means we're starting to come out of the hard cold and into the regular cold where it can snow again. Eventually we'll get to the warmer weather, but I don't really mind cold if there's fresh snow!

I am at work tonight so we did our family ritual last night. It was lovely. We do a ritual that is based on the one in Circle Round: We started in a dark house with one candle. My husband said a small blessing about the return of the sun's strength and lengthening of days. We passed a pretty glass of milk around (so signigy the ewe's milk coming in during lambing) and each took a drink. I had tied on a pretty piece of ribbon to the glass's stem and instructed everyone to rub the ribbon and think about what they want in the spring to come as they took their drink. Then we lit every candle and turned on every light in the house. We took our brooms and ceremoniously swept the darkness from the back corners of the house out the front door. I took the ribbon from the glass and put it outside for Brigid to bless as she walked past our house overnight. That ribbon will stay on our altar until Ostara, when it will become part of our Spring wreath.

Imbolc is one of my fav holidays. I love celebrating that we have made it halway through winter and that, despite everything, we can always always always count on Spring coming back to us.
