swatches?

So the suede cloth thread has me thinking-- Are their any "diaper" fabric retailers that will send swatches of the fabrics? It took me a lot of convincing to order PUL cause I couldn't wrap my head around what it actually felt/washed/sewed like. And the price is pretty high on most of these specialty fabrics. I actually waited too long for dd1 to fit the pull up pattern I had in mind for PUL (by the time it arrived and I cut it out, she was too big )

Like what makes mm fleece so special? I've never felt it. When someone says "microfleece" they can be talking about a number of fabrics. I'm a very tactile person and I like to know what I'm getting before I shell out $30 plus shipping

I know verybaby.com used to do swatches. MicroFiber Fleece and/or Suede Cloth is very soft, holds up well under repeated washing and drying. It doesn't really pill. It wicks the moisture away. Unless my DD's diaper is completely soaked, I can put my hand on it and it feels dry. You can also use velour as the inner lining of you diaper. But it will make for a bit of a bulkier diaper. I really prefer Micro Fiber Terry for the insert of the diaper. It is really really super absorbent. You can even find precut towels in the automotive department of pratically any store, if you need to feel it. Its actually cheaper to get those towels and sew a few layers together as a soaker than to buy the yardage. The downside to Micro Fiber Terry is that its rough. It stinks to everything and everything sticks to it, its a loose thread magnet. You really shouldn't put it directly on the babies bottom. My ideal AIO would be MicroFiber Fleece as an inner layer with a soaker or insert made of MF Terry with a PUL outer layer, and Aplix for the tabs.
