Look at my son's cool new shirt.

A friend of ours who is really peeved that he is circed is obviously happy we left our LO intact sent us this T-shirt for Christmas. I am pretty sure he made it.

It is hard to see the wording but it goes like this

"1skin
2skin
3skin
Foreskin!

100% authentic penis
uncircumcised since 2007"

I think it is pretty awesome. I prefer the term intact but I am not going to fuss about it.

He turned anti circ when he was caring for my 9yo intact BIL and had to deal with an infection (no doubt due to improper care from my MIL when he was a babe). He did research on the foreskin and ended up really pi$$ed off about being circed but educated.

I love it!! I want one! Lol! (No, I don;t know the sex of my unborn baby yet, but I really do want one, lol!)

I'm totally anti-circumcision but I really don't want anyone thinking about my kid's genitalia. I mean, I get having an anti-circ sticker on a car or if adults want to wear shirts with an anti-circ message but... that shirt has an arrow pointing to the penis. It's just um.. it's weird.

Do they make them for girls, too? (I mean, with appropriate wording)

yea, that is weird. . . i don't think i would want my son wearing a shirt that talks about his penis. ???
although, it is very cool that your friend is anti-circ.

I also wonder about this. Is it for real? Complete with the arrow pointing to his penis? Will he wear this outside the house?

Yep. I would not be comfortable with clothing that discusses my child's genitals.

But, it is cool that your friend got you a gift you really like, and that they're anti-circ.

I have to admit I missed the arrow and I can see your point about not being comfortable with it.

I have to add that the friend is quite weird. If he wore it out it would probably be to an AP play group.

The idea for the shirt probably came about because of a conversation we had about my MIL.

My MIL had my nephew baptised when she was babysitting him (without SIL permission). She was so negative about all our parenting choices and so pushy about wanting to babysit him that my friend was spouting off ideas about shirts he could have made.

I think the shirt came about because she keeps bringing up that he doesn't look like his father and that if I would only get him "snipped" at least they would have something in common.

Ewwwww!

Anyway we are isolated in the burbs so hardly anyone is going to see it. I do agree about the arrow though.

yea, but even without the arrow, i think it is inappropriate. would you have your daughter wear a shirt that said "100% authentic vulva" ??

You make an excellent point; I still like the shirt (the message which it would spread) but you're right it wouldn't be appropriate particularly in public.

I agree. I find the shirt disturbing. I am anti circ, but I don't think things like this do the cause any good.

I think it is the perfect night shirt! That is very cool that he took the time and energy to support you in you wonderful choice to leave your son intact. I'm the kind of person that looks at the intentions of the action. I don't like to pick apart deeds that are done with good intentions in mind.

Obviously you wouldn't wear it in public but I think you can take it as a creative, well-intentioned gag gift. Raising your child in an environment that takes pride in genital integrity is a wonderful thing.

DS1 wore a shirt that dh made that said:

"I'm attached to my foreskin"

But it was worn at an anti-circ demonstration. He has not worn it in public outside of that event as I feel it is not the best way to get the message out to people.

Wow. I forgot that activists seldom have a sense of humour.

It was a light hearted gift given in a lighthearted manner by someone who has probably opened the eyes of many people.

I shared it with a light heart and people got all serious on me. I won't be parading my son around in the shirt. The people at playgroup see his penis every time he gets changed so his status is no secret.

I think not having a sense of humour about things does more to hurt causes than to help them.

For the record i did not commission or ask for the shirt it was given by a friend who has a strange sense of humour and who is passionately anti circ.

I am quite now regretful that I chose to share the shirt.

Thanks to the people who took it as the light hearted sentiment that it was intended to be.
