Just curious how everyone else gets their newborn down for daytime sleep.

Wrap or lap during the day, sleeps with me at night.

sneak him into the cradle/boppy pillow after he's asleep during the day. He sleeps on me at night.

A combination of all of the above! For his late morning nap, I rock him to sleep (or almost sleep) then lay him down in his cosleeper (Arm's Reach). One of his afternoon naps often occurs in his carseat because I am always picking up DD from school at that time. His evening nap usually happens in the sling when I am fixing dinner. Then at night he will usually do one or two stretches in his cosleeper, and one or two stretches with me in bed.

she's only a week old, but she sleeps pretty well ... on or next to me. I can't let go of her, so she's always with me.

ditto, but some time in the bed, too.

I said "other" because it is a combo. He mostly naps in my arms. If we have someplace to go he'll fall asleep in the carseat and usually stays asleep in it for a while. He'll sleep in the sling. Occasionally I can transfer him to a little travel swing and take a shower. He sleeps snuggled up to me at night.

I suppose I should have put other...but I put sneak into bed after asleep. I put her in a swing as well or in the bed...depends if we are upstairs or downstairs. She also takes a nap in a sling/wrap and will nap in her carseat pretty well when we travel. We have a baby hammock dp has yet to hang So eventually she'll nap in that, hopefully!

At night she sleeps next to me in bed all night. She'll wake to nurse twice and roll back over and sleep and wakes up around 10amish.

Totally Evangeline's napping too.

I'm so jealous of the mamas whose babies let them put them down to sleep. I adore my little one but would love to be able to put her in her Amby or swing during her naps. Am starting to worry that I have a permanent new appendage.

I voted sneak her to bed after she's asleep, she'll fall asleep on DH or I and will usually stay asleep in her car seat if we put her down after that. She does sleep more soundly on top of me though, and I love to cuddle with her, so we nap together like that pretty frequently

I got a wrap but haven't tried it out yet, if she naps in it I'll be thrilled. I love to have her close to me but it's nice to have my hands free to get things done while she's asleep sometimes.

My first was this way, too, and after about two months, she started going down. There's still hope!

I put other because I have 3-5 other children that I am caring for so she sleeps whenever adn wherever. I don't pay attention to when her nap is supposed to be, she just sleeps when she gets the chance. I worried about it a lot more w/ my first. She sleeps mostly in the car bcs that is where we mostly are but it isn't necessary she can sleep if you lay her on the floor (given no one is sitting on her)

The baby is sleeping on someone at least 90% of the time, but he will occasionally stay asleep if we put him down in something. He will sleep on anyone though, will your DD stay asleep if you let her fall asleep with you and then pass her off? I make sure to do the bedtime tuck in with my older son every night so that we maintain that connection. I also sling the baby pretty often and while that means he's still there between us I do at least have two hands to give my son a hug. And when its really needed I will put the baby down even if it makes him cry, to give the older child a needed hug or some help.

I figure that the newborn won't remember five minutes of fussing and being ignored while my older son will remember that when he needed me I was still there.

Evan has a hard time sleeping alone...thanks to mommy lol... he's usually always on me, or next to me touching in some way.

I usually try to sneak her to bed or her bouncer after she's already asleep. Otherwise, she has to be held to fall asleep, and usually falls asleep for the night either in DBF's arms or mine.

Mine has to be in arms to fall asleep, but if I wait until the 'limp limb' stage, I can usually sneak her into her moses basket or bouncy chair. It doesn't always work so she also gets alot of naps in my arms, or conked out at the breast while I work at the computer.

If we are out, she will sleep in the sling for HOURS but if we are at home she is not a big fan... how weird is that??

At night, she has been sleeping cuddled up next to me, but the last few days she has been consistently sleeping two three to four hour stretches so I have been starting to try setting her down in her moses basket (next to me) after she falls asleep nursing... so far... so good. I bring her into bed after that as she nurses pretty frequently from 4am to 9am.

Unless we are out and about (which doesn't happen too much), my little dude sleeps in his swing most of the time. My other two kids did that and they transitioned to a bed at a later date just fine so I'm not too concerned about him getting too used to it.

If she'll let me I usually put her in her "bumble" (vibrating bouncy) seat or swing. But often she needs to be held, or I just want to hold her.

We have a variety of different napping techniques. Sometimes he'll nap in the car, such as when I'm taking his sister to preschool. Often he falls asleep in the sling when I'm doing housework. He'll also fall asleep on the nursing pillow in my lap while I read, or I may nurse him to sleep in the big bed. Also, his daddy often puts him in the Amby hammock and bounces him for a few minutes, or I swaddle him and turn on the white noise machine and put him in the big bed (often while I fold laundry or take a shower) and he'll usually put himself to sleep that way, with or without pacifier assistance.

I guess I'm not too big on the daily routine! But that's probably true of a lot of us here.

All of the above.

Sometimes he falls asleep in the swing, sometimes I have to hold or rock him, sometimes I lay him down on he bed and he goes off by himself, sometimes I nurse him, sometimes he takes a pacifier, etc.
