how many pro-vax pieces there are in the mainstream media these days? From TV shows to magazine articles, it seems that pharma companies are trying hard to sell their products and scare people into vaxing. I've only been researching vaxes for about 10 months, so maybe it's always been there and I've never noticed before.

I went to my midwife the other day and there was an article in Babytalk about vaccines - the author basically said she was concerned about vaccines but eventually decided to get her kids vaxed because, in her words, "I'd never forgive myself if my child got measles."

Seriously? Measles? What about if your child gets seizures/autism/or dies from the vaccine? But I guess measles, a usually mild childhood disease, is much scarier

I went lurking for views on a forum I used to frequent for years before I had a baby and the majority of people who responded on a vaccine thread were talking about how deadly and scary chicken pox is. I just sighed and closed the site. I watched my cousins supposedly suffer through it and they were fine. I wonder why people who have almost surely never witnessed these illnesses think they have license to talk about them as though they have. At best, they will back up their ignorant statements with YouTube videos and claim every instance of the disease is as bad as the worst they have heard of.

I believe the sheep populace is slowly being groomed for true mandatory vaccination. Good bye individual rights.

Lets take a look at the ads in Magazines and on TV....How many Pharma ads do you see?

Media plays to their advertisers.

I also think that far too many people are starting to put down the Kool Aid. Pharma is getting scared! Their sacred cow is dying.

I recenlty noticed several bilboards along the highway promoting vax, and actually saw a television commercial last night about vaccinations. I don't remember ever seeing these things before (we don't watch much tv, but enough that I think we would have noticed the commercials).

When I was pregnant, I signed up for "baby center" or "baby zone" so i could see the weekly progression of my little peanut. Now that my son is 8 months, I still get weekly updates on milestones and such. This week there was a link that said "Why immunizations are important". I decided to read for a good laugh. They had the usual scare tactics, but I thought the worst part was when they said something to the affect of "some children experience reactions to the shot including high pitched crying, fever, redness and pain at the injection sight. Some experience seizures, although scary, extensive research has determined that such seizures do not have long term effects on the child." Oh well, in that case...bring on the seizures in my baby!!!!http://www.babycenter.com/404_how-ca...-vacc_11477.bc
Although its not the media, its pretty much free advertising to the "new and scared parents." Guess who is the 'specialist' they have answering parents questions? That little cutie pie Offit!:Puke
