Ack, I wrote the wrong day at first, it's wasn't Saturday although, that's when the contractions started. My sense of time is totally out of wack
I tried to stay home as long as possible but, by 3AM Sunday I had had it and told DH to start the car, we needed to go to the hospital NOW!! DH called the MW & the only thing I could say was, "I'm in labor! Have to go now!". I wasn't sane enough to call my doula or the birth photographer
While we were registering in the ER my water broke and things really picked up. That was the most irritating thing I have ever been through!!!! All those stupid questions while I'm in labor with a nervous husband, not cool
: They wheeled me into the room, got me changed, hooked up with the abx and then checked me, I was 8cm. The last two cm's were really hard and I was moaning, groaning & moving around like crazy. My MW checked once more and I had a lip left, just like with DS.
Around 4:30AM I was ready to push. This part was really hard for me, I hadn't had any sleep since Thursday night and was so exhausted. I pushed for about an hour and at 5:28AM Poppy Kristine was born
: All I could say was, "OMG my baby, OMG my baby!" She weighed 8lbs, 7 and 3/4 oz; 20" long, has dark brown hair, and dark blue eyes. She looks a lot like her daddy. Needless to say the cute little hat I knit her was just a teeny bit too small, I wasn't expecting her to be that big!!
The umbilical cord was kind of short so she had to stay right on my tummy until the placenta came out. I tore slightly needing 2 stitches, but no hemorrhoids
After the placenta came out I was all excited to get to take it home but then my MW said she wanted to send it off to have it looked at, she had never seen a placenta look like that before. She showed it to me and it looked like it was in two seperate parts but still attached, it's hard to explain. So that's yet another strange placenta I grew, go me!
I was so happy I was able to go home yesterday afternoon, hospitals skeeve me out to begin with & are the worst places to get sleep. I have been able to get sleep, take a shower, eat good food and feel so much better. Poppy is a good nurser, was able to bring my milk in yesterday (no lie!), but we are having a slight latch issue, ouch!
When DS came to visit later on Sunday he got all teary eyed and said he had tears of joy
We are all so in love with her and I'm still amazed by the whole thing. DH was wonderful and so supportive, I couldn't have asked for more.
Oh, she has quite the cute little smile
Updated- the latch is sooooo much better now!! Thank you nipple shield
