BF Mama got flu shot--->Protects toddler?

Howdy, howdy!

I'm trying not to be terrified about this flu season. I got my flu shot this year but am loathe to get my kids vax'd. My daughter (23 months) is still nursing 2-3X/day. Does anyone know if I could pass on some of my antibodies to her?

I shall answer my own post.

What I can fine online indicates that all antibodies may be passed along to a nursing child. I presume I'm not giving DD as much now as I did when she was a baby, but every little bit helps.

I just noticed the sig line -osteopathic student-cool-----Are you going to use manipulation or do they focus on allopathic medicine ?

I assume the shot would give you some "antibodies"-but that does not always equal protection from the illness.

A natural case of flu would pass antibodies along but I do not know if artifical immunity is passed along.

I just changed my sig!

I start DO school this August! I am so excited! I do plan on using manipulation in my practice...but I don't know if I want to do family practive, ob, peds, etc...Allopathic medicine is the main component of DO education, manipulation being an additional tool DOs learn. IMO, the big distinction between DOs and MDs is that DOs use a mind/body/spirit philosophy towards treating the whole person (not just the parts as MDs tend to do).

I am a firm believer in manipulation, having experienced it first-hand as a patient.
