I took DD to see her pulmonologist today and her homecare nurse was with us. She had mentioned to me that she was concerned about RSV so I asked the doc what he thought about the shot. We've discussed it before and he knows we don't vax but this was one we weren't completely against...maybe still a little unsure. He said he could see about it because insurance can be a butt about paying for it. Well, we never heard anything back. I just assumed nobody wanted to pay.
So today when I asked him he said if we really wanted it he could probably bother them enough to get them to pay (especially considering DD's new issues) but it's already halfway through RSV season and then he said, "But personally I believe good handwashing habits to be more effective than the shot."

I don't know how serious RSV is to other kids with health issues, but DD hasn't even had it. She had something similar and did ok considering even small colds land her in the ER. It was nice to hear something other than "omg, your kid will DIE without this!"
