I was given 2 wraps and recently have been putting my baby in it. She hated it as an infant, so I waited unitl now that she's 4 months and sits up in it so is so happy she squeals when she sees a wrap.
BUT!
My questions: by the time I get where I want to go she is slipping out the bottom. She sits facing me. I try to tighten it but never mind, off she goes.
Second, the back part: I still need to support her upper back with one hand as she tilts back to look at the sky--I tighten it but she hates it too high so there we go.
Thirdly, by the time I am a block away, the ring is on my neck. Ouch.
I am obviously doing something wrong. Is there a guide or something with photos or video somewhere?
I am so confused. Its not a wrap per se, it's like a bag or baby sling with rings. One is a Maya the other it says Jellybean.

Ah a ring sling. It's important to keep both rails of the fabric tight. Try some how to ring sling vids on you tube. Here's one.

I had a JellyBean Ring sling, and I didn't like it much. Not enough adjustability. Ppl say good things about the Maya.

THe edges of the fabric are called rails and it's important to adjust each rail separetely. The top rail is what will give her upper back the support you need, and the lower rail should be tight to keep her falling out the bottom. The lower rail should sit behind her knees. He bum should sit down in the pouch of the sling, her knees should be higher than her bum, KWIM? CHeck that youtube video - it helps to be able to see.

For your shoulder problem, as you're putting your DD in, start with the rings on top of your shoulder, then, as you tighten, you'll be pulling them over your shoulder so they sit where you would pin a corsage, roughly. The fabric should cap your shoulder. Once your daughter is int eh sling, hold her weight up with one hand, and then adjust the fabric over your shoulder till its comfy.

It took me a while to realise that it wasn't me that was messed up, but that my sling wasn't that easy to use. Come back if you need more advice! Good luck.

BTW - have you thought about getting a two shouldered carrier? Many ppl find MeiTais and Soft-Structured carriers to be easier to use than a Ring sling, and better weight distribution.
