Sitting Down

I have been wearing my Moby and my son loves it. . . . if I am standing up walking around with him in it. If I try to sit down, he gets fussy and wants out. Is that normal? I really like having him in it, so that I can have my hands free. But if he is fussing than it defeats the purpose.

I have never been able to sit down with my baby in a carrier, whether it be a sleepy wrap, hotsling, or Beco. She loves, loves the Beco, but only if I'm upright.

Ive had the same problem when sitting down while using a carrier with all 3 of my kids. I've used ring slings, pouches, mei tais, soft structerured carriers, and wraps. sitting and baby wearing just didnt fly with my kids

I never walked so much in my life in those early days. I can sit down now with her in a wrap (she is 9 months) and I don't use the Moby anymore. Maybe they can sense that their feet are getting smooshed. It drove me crazy, but it actually helped me drop baby weight quick because I never really sat still. I just tried to use the time to clean house, take a walk, etc.

I used to wear my baby tummy to tummy in an upright position. Maybe a different position, like the cradle, would make sitting down more do-able.

The one way I found to sit without my DS getting fussy was to sit on my exercise ball and bounce gently. It apparently tricked him into thinking I was still moving around.

My daughter hates for me to be still when I'm carrying her. I must walk or bounce, unless she is dead asleep. So much so that by the time she was a month old, I'd lost all my baby weight and then some. I think this is really normal, annoying, but normal.

This is what we've done, too. I think it also helps that your knees are lower than your hips, and so there's still plenty of room on your front for your dc (if you're doing a front carry).

But yeah, perpetual motion seems to be the order of the day when babywearing!

I haven't heard of many babes who will tolerate a sitting mama while in the carrier! This is a really really common problem. If my guy is REALLY asleep I can sometimes do it, it's good if you can sit in a rocking chair. I like the exercise ball suggestion!

Most little babies won't let you sit down regardless of whether or not they are in a carrier. E refuses to let me sit most of the time, so I sometimes have to carry him facing out (he doesn't like most carriers) with one arm and do stuff for L with the other arm. L still sometimes demands that we stand when holding him, lol, so get used to it!
