TTC in 2009 with MACA - Page 9

Hi ladies, I've been trying Maca for the past 2 months and I'm getting mixed results. Libido is definitely slamming but my bbt has been all over the place! I normally have 29-34 day cycles, but last cycle I O'd on CD25, and today is CD24 and I still haven't O'd this cycle.

Has anyone heard of Maca causing delayed O? I've heard the opposite, but it doesn't seem to be true to me.

I am new to this forum and am LOVING the huge amount of knowledge you ladies have here!!! :

And CONGRATS Jenna Rios!!! That is awesome!!!

I've never heard of that, but since there isn't a whole lotta info out there, anythings possible, kwim? It didn't shorten mine (though I thought it did) but it did give me LIBIDO and EWCM for over a week! I'm stickin' with it for now!

Posted on the 20s thread- I think you'll O soon, following last months pattern of several days of EWCM, a slight overall temp rise, then O. It's coming!

Considering Maca...

I am 26 years old and have been married for 9 months. My husband and I began TTC about 5 months ago. I thought I was pregnant this month (I ALWAYS have a 28 day cycle and am on day 34 now), and though AF still hasn't arrived, my BBT dropped from 98 yesterday to 97.2 this morning. I don't have any cramps either which is very abnormal. I took a HPT Saturday night and it was negative. Since I have only been TTC for 5 months, I haven't been to the doctor. I have always had terrible pain, heavy flow, and even vomiting on the first day of AF. At 11, my doctor wanted to put me on birth control, but neither my mom nor I wanted that. I thought it would be good to go ahead and get started on the maca for both my husband and me. Any suggestions? I just figure it can't hurt!

Please let me know what you think and how much I can take. I have already found several place online that sell it and my husband (who desperately wants a baby too) and I are going to discuss it tonight.

Also, if anyone else has any tips, please let me know. Thanks!

Rachel

Seems to work well for some- I'm taking 1 heaping tsp of powder per day.

CD 1 for me today. It was a 56 day cycle. My first on maca. I am very confused because I had tons of EWCM about 14 days ago, but my temps were all over the place. I was pretty sure I hadn't o'd because of the temp wonkiness. But my cycle starting 14 days after the EWCM has me scratching my head now.

I'm seriously considering the fact that I could have a faulty thermometer.

How frustrating! Do you have a BBT? I am not sure how long the batteries last but it would not hurt to get new ones or even replace it entirely. They are only like 8 bucks at CVS, Walgreens, Wal-Mart.

Does anyone know when I should count my first day of AF? My temp dropped yesterday, but only spotted a very slight bit. Started fully this morning...so do I count yesterday or today? Thanks! (Sorry if TMI)...

I'd count today as CD 1.

BTW, there's no such thing as TMI when TTC!!!

You know, it doesn't surprise me. After all, it is a food, "root" vegetable. Just like I didn't like beets or turnips at one point in my life (although I love them now), I'm sure maca could grow on me as well. For now, it's gross. I'm glad you like it though! :

Maca Recipes?

Thanks for all the help!

I saw a smoothie recipe in another thread where the lady uses milk, 1 T. peanut butter, maca, and half a banana. I am hoping this works especially since my husband has agreed to take it as well.

Anyone else have any ideas for ways to take it? I don't know what it tastes like, but hope to have mine by early next week.

I second that-- it seems way to caloric to be making milkshakes everyday personally I like the taste of it, I actually look forward to it

yeah, I'm on CD1 today. Humph. Well, I"m going to try the Maca with some other stuff. But my Maca plan is like 1000mg/day until I start craving more and then upping the dose from there and then dropping down after O...and G-d Willing I WILL O.
