FREAKING OUT about son starting school...

My oldest 2 children were fully vaxed (so far), and then I saw the light my 14 month old daughter hasn't had any and won't. My 5 year old will be going to Kindergarten this fall, we are not letting him get any of the shots or boosters that are typically required to start school (DTap, MMR, Hep A, chicken pox booster...there are probably more ) anyways, I've been reading a lot on here about a vaccine registry. If it says that he is up to date so far minus the 5 year shots, can I still claim religious exemption? I live in NC and we don't have philosophical this actually keeps me up at night, I don't know what I'm going to do!!!

Don't worry!! You can have a change in religious beliefs at any time. All you would need to say is that your religious beliefs have changed and you can claim a religious exemption. You do not need to get into specifics with anyone about this. You just can't go back after you have done this and get any vaccines. RE's are all or nothing, but what you have done up until this point is irrelivent. When you go to enroll, don't say anything, you should be fine! Just follow the laws of NC and submit the exemption. http://www.nvic.org/state-site/NorthCarolina.htm Another thing I'd look into is opting out of your state's registry. Not sure about NC, but in some states it is optional and you CAN opt out. here is your state's registry. Id call them and opt out if possible. http://www.immunizenc.com/NCIR.htm

I would simply fill out a religious exemption and if they bring it up that the child was vaccinated up to a point, I would cross that bridge at that time.

Watch everything they ask you to sign for enrollment!!!!!!! Read everything! They had my son in a line giving vaccinations because of a form that I was told I had to sign in order to enroll him. I got there in time, but just don't sign anything giving them perm. To make any medical decisions for your child.
