Am I the only one who agrees with facebook? - Page 4

Not being able to post certain pics of yourself on FB is not a civil rights issue. FB in NO WAY stops you from doing anything in your life except posting a picture.

You can argue all day that FB reflects the prevailing values of society-sexist as they may be-and that they should accept the bf'ing is natural. And I would agree 100%.

Be mad, protest, do whatever-but please stop suggesting they are somehow violating a basic right or comparing not being able to post a pic to the struggles of black people to gain equality. You have no rights on their site except for what they agree to allow you.

Seriously??? It's a human rights issue. Women have been discrimated against just as much as blacks...maybe not as much resently but throughout history. Don't believe me? Do a little research. In fact it's still happening in many countries.

If you're going to ban images of all breastfeeding, you may as well ban all images of eating. Because that's all it is : eating.

What's wrong with being provacative? Radical? Pushing boundaries? What's wrong with challenging the norm and working to make media more sane and inclusive? That's how change is achieved. That's how progress is made.

I don't get why those calling attention to issues of importance, issues of discrimination, issues of exclusion and just plain ridiculousness, are so vilified.

I think this is a worthy cause (not just on Facebook, but anywhere) because the public in general needs to learn that less and less people are accepting that breastfeeding is something to be ashamed of or to hide. The fact of the matter is, most companies base their policies on what will make them most successful amongst the public. They need to know that their "customers" disagree strongly with their policy. To just walk away and go somewhere else doesn't accomplish anything. Even writing letters often doesn't accomplish anything. Somtimes actions speak louder than words, and some causes are worth taking that action... to me, anyway.
: to both of you, very well said!
