What should I do with all of this fleece?

I have 5 yards of Malden Mills fleece that I bought a few years ago and wanted to use for making diapers but never did. It is a heavier weight fleece and is mint green (god how I HATE that color--I didn't care though if I was only going to use it for my kid to poop in ) so I don't want to use it for hats/scarves/etc. because I can't stand the color.

So what should I do with this? Any ideas?

The inside of a blanket or quilt?

I've used fleece as batting before.

Ooh, good idea! That way I won't have to actually look at it.

I have never quilted before but it is something that I plan on getting into soon.

If you're handy with a sewing machine then making the hats, scarves, throws would be good as gifts. It will save you bux next holiday time. If you don't have enough people in your gift-giving for hats etc, Simplicity has a free lounge pant pattern on their Sewing Class 101 website that would take up a few yards and would make a great gift. The pattern fits teens to adults.

There's always painting on it for the kids.. at least most of the green would be covered up!

LOL -- I *just* posted a request in the sewing forum for ideas to use 4 yds of mint green silk!!!! I'm not a fan of that color, either.

Maybe we could join forces and make mint green fleece and silk, um, something. Lots of something.

sleep sack

I sew my own sleep sacks. Who cares what color they sleep in. This web site is awesome for instructions.

You could use some of it to make mama pads.

Is this a waterproof/wicking acrylic fleece or an absorbant cotton fleece? If it's cotton, it would be dyable (so you could make it whatever color you wanted, as long as it's darker than the current color.)

If it's acrylic, there's less you can do with it, other than putting it on the inside of blankets, lining coats or other warm wear, or selling it and using the money for fabric you like better.

I might make scarves and stuff for next Christmas. I definitely like to save money where I can (especially at that time of year because holiday shopping makes me a complete grouch).

I like the idea of making mama cloths with them, but I am pretty sure it is waterproof acrylic fleece. Maybe I could use as the outer layer for cloth pads?

If it's waterproof, it would be good for mattress covers if anyone has leaks or accidents.

What weight fleece is it? It'd make a nice blanket or sleeping bag liner if it's around 200 wt. Fleece pants to go in snowpants are more comfy than jeans. A fringed baby blanket for a friend's kid? Dog/cat bed?

Oh, and malden mills fleece is polyester, not arcrylic.
