Now what religion are you?

I'm really tired of being asked this everytime that I say I religiously object to vaccination. So far my DH has been answering with our faith- and I'm not worried about the pastor of our church saying that our church allows vaccination (since DH IS the pastor ), but it's still obnoxious.
I know they technically aren't supposed to ask, but everyone does. What's a polite way to say none of your business without making the working relationship bad?
We unfortunately need regular contact with the doctors in question, and a family practice dr isn't an answer- we need the ped and the specialists.

How about, "I prefer not to discuss my religious beliefs."?

I know! I hate this too! When docs ask what religion I am I just answer the question and they usually don't prod further. It's more that I think they're just curious?? But we work at a church and my father is the pastor- though the church doesn't have a stance on it.
But I always hear that docs can't question your religion- but it has happened many times. Very weird.

Instead of saying I religiously object I phrase it more like "It's against our faith". If they ask what my religion is, I answer that it doesn't really matter as the vaccines go against our beliefs. It's never been pushed beyond that.

"It's none of your business" would be my response.

I would just say "I'm not here to discuss my religious beliefs", and turn the conversation back to my child and why we are there.

I think that's what I'm going to start doing, I just hope it doesn't peeve the doctors and make them short.

I've said " oh I dont talk politics or religion" and if they dont leave it at that I remind them why im talking to them (i e a medical appt, meeting, whatever) usually people get the hint.

If you smile while telling them it's none of their business, it often confuses them and they respond by being nice.

I have never been asked what our religion.

If my assumption about your use of the word pastor is correct, you could confuse them by just saying "I'm Christian" and it would take a pushy one to keep going. But if they did, I've considered using "I don't think this is the right time to talk about my understanding of God's will" and if I'm feeling pushed into a corner, adding "but if you wanted to hear more about that, we could set up a different time to discuss it." I think using the phrase "God's will" would likely stop them in their tracks.
