Missing Alaska

Hi there... I am a new poster. So glad I found this pro-mom community, I think it will be informative. I moved from Alaska 4.5 years ago and started a family here in the Boston area. We lived in FBX 12 years and Wasilla 1 year. Even after all this time and even though we grew up here, we both still feel strange living in the city and can't seem to shake our Alaska homesickness. We don't miss the cold and darkness during the winter but miss the people, environment, lifestyle etc.

Welcome! Check out the ongoing Alaska thread as that is where most of our chatting occurs. Any chance of you moving back? I would die if I had to leave, but I've only been here 5 years.

We're so torn because both sides of the family live here and it is such a great thing for our kids... actually one of the reasons we moved back but... we feel so stifled. We hope to come up in a few years when the kids are older so they can have the experience of living in AK. We think it will be a good thing for them to experience. Plus we miss our good friends.

oh been there done that!!!

We tried moving out of state many times but end up coming back to AK! We love it here!

Welcome to the boards. Be careful though, it wont cure your homesickness!

Hi from the Boston area.

My sister and her family live in Fairbanks and I miss them terribly--haven't met her 2 year old twins yet although I will this summer at a family wedding in Ireland.

The distance thing is hard.
