Does eczema affect the diaper area?

I am planning on making an appt. for ds to go for a RAST test to see if he has any food allergies but in the mean time I am eliminating all the trigger foods from my diet. BUT I have always heard that eczema does NOT affect the diaper area is this true?

The little red dots that he has are now in his diaper area and in the area where his legs meet his body in the fat fold there. It kind of looks like prickly heat. Maybe it is a combination of the two?

Yes it definitely can, especially on the bottom (as opposed to the privates). If your DC has eczema and a DR be very vigilant because most people with eczema are carriers of staph, and the DR could easily become infected with staph. My DD ended up hospitalized with a staph infection from a DR.

If you see any pustules or pimples in the diaper area you really should take your DC to the dr right away.

Yes- every time DD has a food reaction, she gets a diaper rash. It usually fades just as quickly too.

We use cloth wipes, and a solution of distilled water with TTO, and let her have lots of naked time. That should keep any infections at bay.

My DD seems to have started getting diaper rashes when she reacts (she didn't before). Her ped said to wash the area with chamomile tea then put calendula cream on it. So far it seems to be working.

Thanks for sharing- I am going to try that tomorrow. Well, at least the chamomile tea... I think our CB calendula cream irritates DD.

My daughter had bad diaper rashes for a long time. They are now gone after eliminating all her food allergens. She still gets a patch of eczema around her belly area because of her leaky gut, but they are nothing like the rashes she had in the diaper area. I guess you could get eczema there, but with my DD, I think they are different kind of rashes.
