how allergic are pears? and ? about Green smoothies!

okay so we have green smoothies all the time---i usually was putting Kale, spinach, (straw and blue)berries, banana, fresh squeezed OJ (sometimes)-and flax seed or oil.

a couple of weeks ago--my son was eating pears plain---and his face was turning red--this happened a couple times and my hubby said--it looks like he's reacting to pears one day--i said--no pears are one of the least allergic foods- and he loves them!!!

skip forward to smoothies--since pears have been okay price I've been putitng them in our smoothies here and there (fresh) and I love the taste---anyways I noticed today that wherever the green smoothie touched my son's mouth was turning pretty red. I've never thought he was reacting to the green smoothie (though it has lots of stuff in it!)---

SOOOO do you think it's the pears? and/or?! are green smoothies a dangerous thing to be having with food allergies? meaning---is it pretty common that he would start reacting to spinach or something if he has them a lot? (I could stagger them--but he LOVES them!)

also--what's the theory behind "loving" your allergens? he love LOVES beans always has--this doesn't mean he would maybe be allergic right? I just was thinking about it this morning because he asked for beans for breakfast! (I also think he's asked more lately since we're off gluten and they might give him a taste he wants close to that)
THANKS!

okay one last question--i bought the arrow something brand of mix that is gluten free that makes pancakes, buiscuits, banana bread.

when I had pancakes with it--I got a HORRID head ache--wow!~
then i made banana bread this week with it and got the same headache (almost like the headache I get when i have splenda)--
i haven't even thought of allergies for me--but is there something in the mix that maybe I'm allergic to? or maybe it's just something really refined that drops my blood sugar?!!) please let me know if anyone's had a similar experience!

There are plenty of people here who have reacted to pears themselves or their LOs have. Just because it's one of the least allergenic, doesn't mean it's NEVER had an allergic reaction.
Strawberries are one of the most allergenic fruits.
Some children have contact problems with allergens/intolerances in addition to problems with ingesting them.
And yes, it does sound like there is something in the Arrowhead Mills mix to which you're reacting.
I don't know the science behind it, but many of us have anecdotal evidence that allergens are craved.

There's no such thing as a "most allergenic food" or a "least allergenic food." There are foods that are more or less common allergens. Many people are allergic to strawberries. Fewer people are allergic to pears. However, it's possible for an individual to be allergic to pears but be fine with strawberries.

I have a friend with multiple food allergies- including GARLIC!!! Who'd ever think of garlic as an allergen? Most people only think of it as a spice, not even a food! Yet this same kid can eat strawberries.

As for the green smoothies, if he's been having them a lot, and only got the red patches on his skin when the smoothie contained pears, then I'd assume pears are the problem.

And it definitely sounds like the GF mix has something in it that you're allergic to. I never use those premade mixes myself- I use rice flour, potato or corn starch, and xanthan gum to make my own baking mix.
