Maybe someone already posted about this.

Good Morning America reported this morning that not only some companies are putting soybean oil in olive oil, but that some Maple Syrup companies are putting in corn syrup, and some honey companies are putting in different sugars like beet sugar.

This just pisses me off.

holy crap! I was actually considering trying maple syrup as a sweetener for DS's formula. Corn syrup is one of his most severe reactions.

That doesn't surprise me at all. I was using maple syrup all the time, and then switched brands and DD started reacting. I contacted the company a couple times, and they swore no other ingredients or x-con risk. So I'm off syrup now- too risky.

She also reacted to a brand of honey that was not my usual. curious. (although she's fine with beets.. but I'm sure there could be other stuff added too. )

i'm ready to start tapping the maple trees in my backyard. i'm totally serious, too. i suppose i should go check out some books on maple sap harvesting/syrup making huh?

I was just thinking something similar. Like maybe we should all choose one crop to grow and set up a "safe food co-op". These stories are about to make my head explode.

It's pretty easy, just takes time. My parents do several gallons every year.
