I give you my best come back.... - Page 2

Nice! My brother's favorite thing to do at the grocery store when he was 4 or 5 was to run down the aisles and see how far he could slide on his knees. Wonder what that lady would have said about that? And yes, our mom went through a lot of knee patches.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

I so can't wait to use that!

My brother did this, too! It drove my mom bananas because every pair of his pants was wrecked in the knees.

Fan-effen-tastic!!!

How come nobody says snide remarks to me now that I'm older, wiser and more apt to have a come-back than slink away in disgust :/

I'm sure it came flying out b/c a few weeks ago my friend and I were talking the selective memory of parents of grown children...
How their children NEVER...so many things. we were getting a laugh out of recalling how perfect we were as kids.

I was fully prepared I guess.

She should be glad it wasn't 20 years ago, and she wasn't shopping in a store containing me and my cousin...We used to like to hide and jump out and scare people. Or if we were at a store with manequines (Can't spell) we would pose with them..And jump out and scare people.
OMG!! you would have killed me...Mannequins scare me!

That's a great response! I wish I was like you and able to be witty like that.

One time when dh was wearing dd1 in her sling an older lady come up to him and started cooing over dd. Then she started to say something but she was speaking Russian so I had no idea what she was saying. Dh starts saying something to her (he speaks Russian) and she got all huffy and stormed off. He said that she was pretending to be nice but she was really saying nasty things about us having her in a sling. She said something like, "shame on your parents for putting you in that. You don't like that do you". I guess dh said "shame on you for being so rude" and that's when she stalked off. I hope that taught her not to do that to someone else. You never know if someone can speak a second language. lol.

Awesome. I need to remember that!

Funny, but actually, he did have a father figure: Joseph, Mary's husband.

So they were extra giggly and loud.
I was looking for frozen tortellini when an older woman did the eye roll looked half at me and said in *that* tone;
"My kids never behaved like that in the supermarket"

To which I said with an agreeing chuckle and nod, "I know..i am totally going to say that when I get older too"
she huffed away..I found the tortellini
Too funny.

All of you make me so happy. I never get a chance to use witty comebacks. I guess I look intimidating. :

My husband has a pretty selective memory, himself. He is *always* telling me that he never did X, Y, or Z when he was a kid. Finally, I got tired of arguing with him and suggested he hand me the phone so I could call his steel-trap-recall mom and ask her. He's coming around.
