Please help...tooth problems in 3yo

I swear we've brushed this kid's teeth up and down ever since they popped out and she's having the same problem that I had and my brother had...little brown baby teeth.

Most of her teeth are fine but the two that are on either side of the big front teeth (yes i should know the names of those little teeth! ) are all discolored and pitted by her gums. We haven't used flouride up until now and I'm kinda regretting that! Maybe it could have saved her baby teeth (i know how bad it is though...so i didn't want to go that route).

We haven't brought her to the dentist yet, pretty much for fear of what he's going to say. I am NOT getting baby teeth pulled and capped, etc...like my SIL did with her little boy. The poor thing got two caps on his front teeth, one of which fell out, and now he has one lone chiclet hangin there. Not cool.

Anyway...in the meantime, until they fall out, is there anything I can do to help whiten them? I've heard of this xylitol gum...and Lana loves to chew gum...maybe that would help? I swear I was tempted by those whitening kits in the store, with the little tooth paintbrush... but I didn't go through with that one! Don't worry! How can I stop any further damage to the teeth? I just hate that she's having the same problems that me and my siblings had. My teeth now are fine, but the baby teeth were awful and even now I'm very prone to cavities, decay, etc...

Read www.zellies.com, the whole site is interesting and informative. Though you may not have used fluoride toothpaste on your daughter, they have now proved that Americans are getting too much fluoride. It isn't just in the toothpaste and water, but is found in the food we eat, juice, milk, cheese, etc. and too much fluoride can do horrible things to childrens teeth. I know this from experience as my DS HAD fluorosis-induced ECC according to his dentist.

Anyway, ECC can be conquered if you're diligent. But I do advise reading the zellies site, it is excellent! Also www.epicdental.com and www.xlear.com!

Re:

Yes they can. They have any kind of pain that a person can have.
