Aluminum rings... toxic?

I'm looking into making slings for charitable endeavors and in my research, stumbled upon a site that sold "stainless steel rings, no toxic aluminum!". Does anyone know anything about this?

Hmm. Well, I've never heard about aluminum being toxic, at least in the amount that a mouthy baby would ingest from a ring-sling ring. You would think that aluminum soda cans would be one of those hot-button issues here on MDC if that were the case. Or maybe it is a different type of alloy that is used for rings than cans?

I hope there is another poster with more info.

IMO it sounds like a sales tactic. In fact I think aluminum rings would be more toxic for the earth (production) than to the actual baby in the sling. Many manufacturers use aluminum sling rings with no ill effects. I guess I'd be worried if the baby was going to eat the aluminum ring, but if you find a baby who can swallow an aluminum sling ring you should probably call the Guinness Book of World Records I'm not trying to dismiss your concern, just trying to put it into perspective.
