HELP! Feather and Fan Stitch

I am learning the feather and fan stitch and I CO 36 and followed exactly as they said with knit first row, purl second row then for third row knit 2 tog. three times, YO, knit one for six times and then knit 2 tog three times and somehow after the the first row of feather and fan I have more than 36 stitches. What am I doing wrong or am I oing anything wrong?

Fan and Feather is a multiple of 18 stitches so you should be able to do the stitch pattern twice on 36 stitches. Each row will also maintain 36 stitches.

Thank you. I figured out where I went wrong. I knit 2 tog. three times, YO, knit 1 for six, knit 2 tog. three times and instead of starting that pattern again, I accidentally did the YO knit 1 for six. I think I have it all figured out now.

Did you place a marker between each pattern repeat? It really helps me keep track when I do that.
