My daughter is about 6 weeks old and she sleeps ALOT. I mean alot. Just today she slept midnight-4:30Am...5am-8am...9:30am-12; 12:30-4:30pm, 5-6:30pm. And I'm probably exaggerating the amount she was awake! She seriously has been sleeping most of today.
She's breastfed but if I wake her up and try to get her to eat, she won't...she's always been like that, if she's not rooting/showing signs of hunger she will not nurse. I know babies sleep alot but she's always seemed excessive to me! Like 22 hours a day, only being alert for brief periods before going to sleep. Although at night she'll wake every couple hours to eat and fall back asleep fast. I asked the dr and said she wouldn't worry until she was 2 months and still sleeping so much. She doesn't nurse long either (less than 10 minutes) but is gaining weight well.
What are some reasons she could be sleeping so much? Some kind of disorder? How is your 6 weekers doing as far as sleep?
