Anyone have a foolproof natural hair dye recipe that will truly cover grays?

I'm only 33 and I'm starting this ugly skunk strip of gray in my hair. I'm so not ready to be gray, but I don't want chemicals in my hair. I know about henna and chamomile and all that, but will it really cover the grays, or only make them less noticeable? Anyone with experience, please share!

Subbing, I was wondering the same thing. I have black hair though, so don't even know if, "natural" dyes will cover my white hair.

What color is your hair? I get good grey coverage with henna, but you don't get much color choice...I'm lucky in that henna is a pretty good match for my natural color...just brightens it up a bit and covers the grey. I've done henna, but I don't have much red in my hair naturally. I look kind of weird when I use henna. My hair is kind of a light blondish brown with lots of goldish and reddish highlights. Hard to put a finger on the color. Honey blond highlights look more natural on me.

Mags, black walnut is perfect for black hair.

I have the same question. I'd like to cover my white/grey hair as naturally as possible and hopefully without the use of super expensive dyes. I was thinking henna since I do have reddish brown hair, but is it annoying to use? Also, I need a dye that is safe to use while bfing.
