my sil has 3 children. she put them into foster care for maybe 1.5 years so that she could get her life straightened out. she's had them back since November. her oldest (6 yo) has been diagnosed as manic depressive and is on medication. he has recently started having really bad problems at school. from what i talked to her tonight, his grades are still fine but he has started acting up very badly. i only talked to her briefly tonight but she said that he has pulled the fire alarm twice and has started clinging to his sp.ed. teacher. he refuses to go into the lunch room with the other children. things like that. i don't know if the other kids have ostracized him or are picking on him, she didn't say. she has mentioned to me in the past that she thought it would be nice to homeschool but didn't think she would be able to afford it. home life has been stable since moving back in with their mom, though understandably that is a big transition esp. since he was an only child at his foster mother's home. i am thinking about recommending homeschooling to her again, but don't know of any specific homeschool programs. maybe something that offers a payment plan? i don't think they can afford a lot. they are also Christian fwiw. tia. she's at a loss as to what to do.
