Hi- we are planning a trip to Egypt. I read in some of the other posts about Breast Feeding in public (accepted in Egypt) and that wearing shorts is not okay. When we go, we would like to have the best trip to see amazing Egypt and know that no matter what we are going to look like tourists. We dont want to offend any one either. So my question is what should women wear while adventuring in Egypt?

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

Yep, you definitely will stick out like a sore thumb but no worries, they are used to us, sort of. I traveled to Egypt with 2 girlfriends, 13 years ago
:, it's really been that long??!! Anyways that's one place I would go back to only if traveling with a man, we received lots of attention but myself and 1 of the the friends had just finished up 2 years in West Africa with the Peace Corps and our tolerance level was much lower than the friend that met us coming over from the states.
My Peace Corps friend and I wore long sleeves and long skirts while the other friend wore short skirts, shorts and short-sleeved shirts, she didn't seem to get the cultural disrespect as much as we tried to convince her to cover up a bit more, oh well. But even when my PC buddy and I went out covered up we got lots of attention so it could just be the color of our pale skin and the fact that we were traveling without men, who knows, I just remember being fed up with it.
On the other hand the beauty of that country certainly makes up for some of the cultural annoyances. We ended up taking a train down to Luxor from Cairo, then went on an organized tour to Aswan, which we didn't normally do but for security concerns it was the smart way to go. Then the best part of the trip was hopping on a felucca (sailboat) and floated back up the Nile to Cairo, I think it took 2-3 days, it was magical
. Seeing the pyramids and just feeling the ancient history of the place was intense. We went on to Greece, Turkey, Romania, Hungary, then home, oh what an amazing time. Thanks for the reminiscing and have a wonderful trip, I'm happily jealous

We just went to Egypt last March. I wore normal clothes. Jeans/sweaters. We were there in March and wore pants because it was fairly chilly. I did see people in shorts/capris, it was pretty common. I saw some VERY short shorts, which I wouldn't recommend but I think they would have been offensive in any country,
I felt very safe in Egypt. We were with our tour guide, but I didn't thing we drew any extra attention.
There wasn't any expectation to cover our heads or anything like that, if you were wondering. We were asked to remove our shoes for a Mosque, but that was it.
You will have a ton of fun!

The girl in the middle of us is Egyptian, so you can see how she was dressed:
